Private Consultation
Before anything is designed, there is a conversation. Choose the depth that suits where you are — a telephone call, a morning in the atelier, or two days spent reading your building.
An unhurried first conversation with a principal. We listen to the building, the brief and the life you intend to live inside it, then tell you honestly whether we are the right studio for the work.
What it includes
Spend a morning in the studio among the material library. We work through the brief in person, handle stone, timber and cloth, and leave you with a considered sense of the language your project might speak.
What it includes
We come to the building itself. Light is measured through the day, proportion is recorded, and the existing fabric is assessed with our conservation consultant where the structure warrants it.
What it includes
Tell us which format suits you and roughly when. We will reply with two or three times, and if a principal is travelling we will say so rather than pass you to someone else.
A note on fees
Where a consultation carries a fee, it is credited in full against your first invoice should the commission proceed. If it does not, you keep the work we produced.
Plans and surveys are useful if you have them, but they are not required. What genuinely helps is harder to file: the room you keep returning to, the hotel corridor you photographed and could not explain, the piece of furniture you refuse to part with.
Bring the objections too. The budget that frightens you, the partner who wants something else entirely, the listed status nobody has resolved. We would rather meet those on day one than in month fourteen.
